Role of police Leadership in the protection of human Rights
Leadership in Police is totally different and difficult from that in any other walk of life. It is so in as much as the ability to inspire and motivate the rank and file is so demanding that sacrificing of life in the line of duty is part of their occupational hazard. In the specific context of upholding Human Rights also, the police leadership has to set an example and be a role model for the subordinate ranks. Or else, they cannot otherwise enforce observance of Human Rights by their subordinates. Police leaders must themselves be humane, ethical, and possess high qualities of human excellence.
